Section 5
Benefits
A summary of the programs available to eligible employees. Plan documents and carrier materials govern the details.
5.1 Benefits Overview and Eligibility
Benefits eligibility depends on your classification and scheduled hours. Eligible employees may enroll when first hired, during the annual open enrollment window, or within a set period after a qualifying life event such as marriage, birth, adoption, or loss of other coverage.
Plan documents, summaries, and carrier materials describe coverage in detail and govern in the event of any difference with this summary.
5.2 Health Insurance Programs
Medical, dental, and vision options are offered, with the organization contributing toward the cost of coverage for employees and eligible dependents.
Plan choices, networks, and contribution levels are published each year before open enrollment so you can compare options with your household's needs in mind.
5.3 Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts
Depending on the medical plan you choose, you may be able to pair coverage with a health savings account that carries over year to year.
Flexible spending accounts may also be offered for eligible healthcare or dependent care costs. These accounts have annual election limits and use-it-or-lose-it rules described in the plan materials.
5.4 Disability and Life Insurance
Short-term and long-term disability coverage helps replace a portion of income if you are unable to work because of a qualifying condition.
Basic life and accidental death coverage is typically provided at no cost to eligible employees, with the option to elect additional coverage for yourself or dependents.
5.5 Employee Assistance Program
An employee assistance program offers confidential counseling and referral support for you and your household at no charge — for mental health, financial questions, legal questions, and everyday stress.
Use of the program is confidential; the organization receives only aggregate, non-identifying usage information.
5.6 Stipends and Professional Development
Stipends or reimbursement may be available for professional development such as courses, certifications, conferences, and memberships relevant to your role.
Discuss plans with your manager before committing funds, and share what you learn with your team afterward.
5.7 Retirement Savings
A retirement savings plan is available to eligible employees, with the opportunity to contribute through payroll on a pre-tax or after-tax basis where offered.
An organizational contribution may be provided as described in the plan documents, along with details on vesting, investment options, and rollovers.
