Section 6

Paid Time Off & Leaves

Time away is part of doing good work. This section covers scheduled time off, unplanned absences, and extended leave.

6.1 Paid Holidays

A schedule of paid holidays is published each year. Employees required to work on a holiday because of operational needs receive alternative time off or premium pay as applicable.

Holiday pay applies to eligible employees based on classification and scheduled hours.

6.2 Flex Days

Flex days may be offered in addition to the holiday schedule so you can observe occasions that matter to you and your family.

Request flex days the same way you request other time away, with enough notice for your team to plan coverage.

6.3 Paid Time Off Accrual

Eligible employees accrue paid time off based on classification and length of service. Balances are visible in the payroll system and accrue through each pay period.

Carryover limits and payout of unused time at separation follow plan rules and applicable law.

6.4 Requesting Time Off

Request time off in advance through the standard process so your manager can plan coverage. Managers approve requests based on team needs and aim to say yes whenever the work allows.

Before an extended absence, write down where your work stands and who is covering what. Nobody should have to reconstruct it while you are away.

6.5 Sick Time

Paid sick time is available for your own illness or injury, medical appointments, and caring for a family member. Notify your manager as early as you can when you will be out.

For extended absences, documentation may be requested. Do not come to work when you are contagious; remote work is an option in many roles when you are well enough to work.

6.6 Jury Duty and Bereavement

Time off is provided for jury service. Share the summons or service dates with your manager as soon as you receive them.

Bereavement leave is available following the death of a family member or close loved one, with additional flexibility where travel or arrangements require it.

6.7 Family and Medical Leave

Longer leaves — for a serious health condition, the birth or placement of a child, military-related needs, or other qualifying reasons — are available under applicable law and organizational policy.

Contact the People team early. They will explain eligibility, how pay and accruals coordinate, benefits continuation, and the return-to-work process.
